Giles County School Board members voted during a work session Thursday to send school bus purchase proposal to the November 7th meeting.

Transportation Director Teresa Busby told the board the proposal is to purchase 4 buses that seats 78 passengers at a cost of $95,000 each and also special needs buses.

Busby said the garage has 46 buses on routes with 2 routes combined, 8 sub-buses not in good shape and 1 bus that failed inspection.

Finance Director Beth Moore-Summers explained to the board that buses were paid from the fund balance, which presently has approximately 6 million dollars in the account..

Other budget amendments sent to the November 7 regular meeting were Transportation Supervisor's salary schedule and equity; Student needs and Capital Projects.

Board members agreed to add policy 3.219 unmanned aircraft/drones on first reading of the next meeting.

Richland Principal Micah Landers asked the boards blessings to build a baseball field house without a cost to the county. Landers said Coach Troy Hughes has raised over $16,000 that would build the house.

The board agreed to build the field house without cost to the county.

Other business that was moved to the November 7th meeting, was to amend interscholastic athletics that includes home school students, Lighting Project at Richland School, HFR Design, ESG, and Disposition of assets at Pulaski Elementary School and policy to allow parents to view bus videos.
