Martin Methodist College (MMC) will welcome Robert Barnes, Supreme Court Correspondent for The Washington Post, to campus as the keynote speaker for 2019’s MMC Justice Joseph Ward Henry Law Lecture Series.

Barnes will cover the Supreme Court’s role in a politically polarized nation.

The lecture series featuring Barnes will be held on October 24th at 7 p.m. in the Martin Theater.

He has spent most of his career at The Washington Post as a reporter and editor. Barnes joined the paper to cover politics and has served in various editing positions, including metropolitan editor and national political editor. He has covered the Supreme Court since November 2006, with a brief break to cover the conclusion of the 2008 presidential campaign.

After taking a journalism class at the University of Florida, Barnes gave up law school plans for a life in newspapers.

The MMC Justice Joseph Ward Henry Law Lecture Series is an annual event honoring the former Chief Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court, Justice Henry, a Pulaski native.

Admission is free, and the public is encouraged to attend.
