Giles County Economic Development Commission members took no action on a suggestion from Pulaski City Administrator Terry Harrison to develop another dirt pad for attracting an industry in the Dan Speer Industrial Park South, along Highway 31.

Harrison said a site with a second pad could enhance Giles County in landing more industry.

EDC Director David Hamilton told the members that the latest unemployment rate for Giles County had risen to 5.1 percent up from 4.3 percent. “Rates for a lot of counties went up in the past month,” Hamilton reported.

According to Hamilton, Edelmann, a printing company that employs approximately 48 on Bennett Drive has announced plans to close its plant November 9th.

Hamilton reported to the EDC that the Tennessee Department of Transportation has lost a lawsuit over a sign, which would make it easier for Giles County to provide an industrial park sign.
