A Pulaski man is in custody after drugs and a gun was found in the vehicle he was driving after being stopped for violation of the light law.

After observing the vehicle for a short period of time, the vehicle was stopped by the Giles County Sheriff's Department in the Agnew Community and when checking the driver’s license it resulted in a suspended status.

Patrick Lee Garrett, 35, of Pulaski was immediately placed into custody.

A search of the vehicle driven by Garrett resulted in the recovery of approximately 55.8 grams of a crystal like substance, which field tested to be methamphetamine.

Further search led to the seizure of 33 Hydrocodone pills and a metal spoon.

Also recovered were several clear baggies and a scale, which is commonly associated with the sale of illegal narcotics along with the drugs, a loaded .44 caliber revolver was also seized.

Garrett was transported and booked into the Giles County Jail on charges of Manufacture, Delivery, Sale, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Schedule II Narcotics
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Driving on a Suspended, Revoked or Cancelled License.

Garrett is currently being held on a $436,750 bond. Deputy Dennis Keefer was assisted on scene by Sgt. Jonathan Lewonczyk.

Sheriff Kyle Helton said Deputy Keefer’s efforts on patrol, given the conditions, show a continuing dedication to the detection and deterrence of drug activity in our county. This is a direct reflection of our department’s standards and I commend the Deputies for a job well done.
