The Giles County Sheriff Department participated in a multiple agency event Friday hosted by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office entitled, "Hands Across the Border".

Hands Across the Border is a checkpoint held on the Tennessee/Alabama border in Lincoln County in an attempt to curb impaired driving and other violations.

The Giles County Sheriff Department actively participates year round in a grant, funded by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, which places extra officers on the streets during peak traffic times such as holidays and weekends.

During these times, officers are focused on detection of impaired driving and other moving violations.

Participating in the event were Deputy Robert Gurley, CID Lieutenant Shane Hunter, SRO Sergeant Titus Gilbert, SRO Reagan Jennings, Deputy Dennis Keefer and Sheriff Kyle Helton.
