The state of Alabama has been given a presidential disaster declaration following the effects of Hurricane Irma. 

President Donald Trump approved Governor Kay Ivey’s request for the declaration Monday. 

The President has ordered federal assistance to supplement existing local response efforts due to conditions that resulted from the storm that began last week. The declaration has authorized the Department of Homeland Security and FEMA to coordinate all disaster relief efforts.
