The Giles County School Board voted to hire Henry, Henry and Underwood of Pulaski as the board's counsel and remove Attorney Chuck Cagle, who has represented the board for a number of years.

Board member Knox Vanderpool, said Attorney Joe Henry told him during a meeting that his firm would start immediately and would write a contract for one year.

A motion passed to go forward and remove Cagle from the counsel.

Meeting in regular session at the Central Office Thursday night, the board discussed amending Policy 5.102 to remove the teaching certification for Transportation Director under the policies Support Personnel section.

Acting Schools Director Vickie Beard has recommended Theresa Busby for the Transportation Director's position, but she does not have a teaching certificate only an associate degree.

Board Members voted to table amending policy 5.102 until the state  could be asked about wording and if the certificate is a requirement.

First reading Policy 6.204 passed offering tuition to out of district students. If the policy passes on second reading the cost of tuition would apply to anyone who resides outside of Giles County.

Beard informed in a work session the last figure that was discussed by the board was $532 for costs of tuition for out of district students wanting to attend Giles County schools.
