Tomorrow  is the first day of school for Giles County students.

This is an abbreviated day and students will be released at 11:30 a.m. School buses will pick up and deliver students on this date.

The first full day of school in the county is Monday, August 5th.

When the yellow buses start rolling Thursday, the Giles County School Bus System consists of 48 routes along with 3 to 5 mid-day buses.

According to Theresa Busby, Transportation Assistant Coordinator, each employee is constantly trained to keep up with safety issues and the latest changes that take place.

Busby said drivers are required to attend In-Service Training each year, obtain a yearly CDL physical and be subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Our system works diligently to keep our personnel ready and able to handle their jobs efficiently so that the parents of Giles County can safely rest knowing their children are in good hands.

Busby stressed that the system is in need of substitute drivers.

All drivers' start as substitutes and move into Full-time positions which at that time have access to  Board Benefits.

Steve Nave is the bus instructor and Busby said is very dedicated in helping those whom apply to become a driver. He helps drivers acquire a CDL license which is a Class B with PS Endorsements.
