The Maury County Sheriff's Department has released the name of a man suspected in a domestic-related shooting incident inside a rural home.

Sheriff Bucky Rowland confirmed the arrest of Samuel Modine, 37, in connection with the shooting of two women and one man at a home off Brown Hollow Road just northwest of Columbia. Authorities have charged Modine with first degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Police said a man called 911 about 2:15 a.m. and told a dispatcher he’d shot three people and needed help.

Emergency responders went into the home where they found the three all suffering from critical gunshot wounds. The man’s two children, both under the age of three, were sleeping at the home when officers arrived. Rowland said they were not injured.

Rowland said one of the shooting victims is the the mother of the two children. The other couple shot, he said, had been at the home visiting at the time of the shooting.
