Acting Giles County Schools Director recommended Theresa Busby as the new Transportation Director during the school board work session Thursday night.

Dr. Vickie Beard said Busby has all the training, but does not have the certificate and asked to amend and reword policy 5.102.

Beard also asked the board to hire a clerical worker at the bus garage to cover if Busby has to fill in and drive a bus.

Board voted to send this matter to the next meeting on August 1st.

Giles County Commissioners Stoney Jackson and Mike Cesarini along with School Board Member Tommy Pope also addressed the board about a recent visit to study Lawrenceburg's school renovation project using Energy Systems Group.

Jackson said they were very impressed with the work they saw.

A representative  from ESG recommended in May to remove all old heating and cooling equipment and windows at both Giles County High and Bridgeforth Middle School.

Knox Vanderpool said the board should reach out to ESG and asked for a detailed document on recommendations and cost for each school in Giles County.

The board authorized Dr. Beard to meet with ESG and produce a document.
