A multiple agency search of the Frankewing and Beech Hill communities ended with the arrest of Dejean Dante Washington, 31, of Nashville.

After authorities received reports of forged checks and counterfeit currency, the Criminal Investigation Division of the Giles County Sheriff's Department launched an investigation.

On Tuesday, Charles David Slaughter, 61, was arrested and charged with one count of Criminal Simulation after attempting to pass a forged instrument.

After further investigation, Washington became a suspect in the case and details of this incident was not released to an ongoing investigation.

He is believed to be a part of a larger network of crimes.

Washington was charged with conspiracy to commit, criminal simulation, resisting attest and forgery and is being held on a $13,000 bond.

Sheriff Kyle Helton said he would like to commend the tireless efforts of Lieutenant Shane Hunter and the Criminal Investigation Division regarding this investigation.

In a press release, Helton also thanked the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, Tennessee State Parks and the Tennessee Highway Patrol for their assistance in coming to a safe and peaceful resolution and also asked the community to remain on alert and report any suspicious documents or currency to the sheriff's department.
