An early morning traffic stop today (Friday) resulted in the arrest of an Oneonta, Alabama couple.

According to reports, Tennessee Highway Patrolman Wes Booshers, initiated a traffic stop just after 2 a.m. and charged the driver, Michael Andrew Byrd, 36, with driving under the influence.

He was booked in the Giles County jail and bond was set at $1,000.

Also, arrested during the stop was Christy Michelle Atkins, 40, and she was charged with simple possession/casual exchange.

She is in the county jail under $1,000 bond.

Court date for Byrd and Atkins is set for July 18th in General Sessions Court.
