Six months into 2019, two Middle Tennessee cities have seen an increase in traffic fatalities.

The Tennessee Department of Safety & Homeland Security reports as of July 8 there have been 537 traffic deaths in Tennessee.

The totals reflect an increase of 36 fatalities compared to the 501 during the same time period in 2018.

Two cities have seen the largest increase according to the report. The Lawrenceburg district has reported the largest increase with 28 more deaths compared to 2018 year-to-date. The area has reported 52 so far this year compared to 24 the previous year.

The Nashville district reports the second-highest increase with 18 more deaths than the previous year. So far in 2019, there have been 131 traffic fatalities compared to 2018's 113 during the same period.
