A plant in Elkton announced to employers recently they will be closing the doors .

Promark Percussion told approximately 21 employees in June they were out of work and would not receive a severance package.

When calling the company about the closing, a recording is received that someone would call you back, but that call never happened.

Promark, a drum stick maker, moved to Elkton from a site between the city and Prospect.

After fire destroyed the old mill in Prospect in 2014, it reopened in Elkton a year later at a 75,000-square-foot site that is four times larger, with space for new products and double the dowel output.

Promark, a subsidiary of Long Island, N.Y. produces parts for musical instruments.

The only company with its own sawmill, Promark was founded in 1957 by Herb Brochstein, a professional drummer and drum shop owner.
