Giles County Schools received trauma bags last month during the Law Enforcement Youth Camp.

SchoolCops Foundation presented the bags to SRO officers at each school which included CPR masks, splints, Israeli Bandages, QuickClot and tourniquets that are all commonly used for wound treatment in the field.

The kits were through a $3,000 grant from Maury Regional Medical Center and numerous donors.

Students attending the camp were also exposed to the Air Evac helicopter and learned first aid tips.

Rachel Brown, SchoolCops Fund-raising Coordinator, said the only first aid kits available at the schools were to cover minor cuts, bumps or bruises.

Trauma kits are not the SchoolCops Foundation only service. The organization helps with food, light bills, Christmas gifts, clothing and books.
