An Ardmore man accused of striking his child in the face with a belt is now charged with child abuse in addition to third degree domestic violence.

Kevin Dewayne Owens Sr., 47, is accused of striking his child, who is under 18 years old, in the face on January 30th, according to a grand jury indictment.

Owens was first arrested February 19th on a misdemeanor charge of third-degree domestic abuse following an investigation.

When the case was recently presented to the grand jury, jurors chose to add a felony charge of child abuse.

Owens is free on $50,000 bond. A trial date has not been set.
