Giles County High School Band of Gold director is leaving the school to become director at Elkmont High School.

The Limestone County Board of Education approved to hire Bryan Pigg during their June 25th board meeting.

Pigg was band director in Giles County for eight years. He also taught in the Etowah County school district in Alabama and also for four years in Athens City Schools.

Pigg said he is in the midst of finalizing show details and meeting with key people related to the band, including its booster club president. He looks forward to getting to know the students, calling the year ahead “new territory for all of us.”

In addition to having 14 years of teaching experience, Pigg earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Jacksonville State University and a master's degree in music education from the University of North Alabama.

Elkmont High Principal Bill Tribble said Pigg was one of 35 applicants for the job and we are “super excited” to have him come to Elkmont.

Giles County High School principal Donna Cobb is out of the office and could not be reached on Pigg's replacement.
