Authorities said a Madison man was killed on Laugh Miller Road Saturday morning In Limestone County.

Alabama State Troopers said Arthur D. Lapietra, 61, died when his vehicle hit a train around 7:50 a.m.

Officials pronounced Lapietra dead at the scene.

Cpl. Joel Baker, of the  Alabama Enforcement Agency Field Office, said, “When the train struck the vehicle it actually took the vehicle into two pieces, pushing the passenger compartment of the vehicle approximately 297 feet down the tracks.”

Officials added this was the second wreck since May 9, when another person was killed at the same intersection. Troopers called it a problem area.
