During the Work Session of the Giles County School Board Thursday it was announced there would be a special meeting Monday night at 5 p.m. at the Central Office Building.

Purpose of the meeting was not available.

Also, during the work session, board members agreed to table the Energy Systems Group school renovation project.

A decision was made that teachers salary schedules will be discussed and approved during the next Giles County School board meeting on July 11.

Assistant Schools Director Mike Gonzales asked the board to consider hiring a company to survey all schools to see what is needed to pass the America’s Disability Act(ADA) law. "There has never been an organized plan"  Gonzales reported.

Director of Schools Phillip Wright was not in attendance at the meeting and when asking Gonzales about his whereabouts,  he said Wright was talking with Working Compensation representatives after a recent fall at the central office.

Micah Landers, principal at Richland School, asked the boards permission to  pursue building a football field house at the school.

Landers explained that people in the community tell him they have resources to help build the building with no cost to the school system.

The board voted for Landers to go ahead with the project after a committee was formed.
