The Giles County Commission’s Environmental committee has recommended a budget for the county solid waste and recycling department.

The convenience center's budget for 2019-2020 is $593,438, which is up from $522,265.

Money for a convenience center is included in the budget. The convenience center will  only accept garbage, recyclables and solid waste.

Plans are the Giles County Highway Department will do all construction work on the center and materials will be purchased with state funds.

The budget increase is also for part-time personnel to staff the centers, building purchase and also equipment.

The committee is planning for the center in Minor Hill to open this fall.
