The new Giles County Economic director David Hamilton will officially begin his duties on Saturday, June 1.

Hamilton, from Paris, Tennessee was named recently the new EDC director replacing Bethany Shockney, who resigned earlier this year to take a similar position in Limestone County, Alabama.

Hamilton said he was excited to have the opportunity to join the leadership team tasked with  attracting new job opportunities and investment to Giles County.

He added the driving force in his decision was the opportunity to work with a leadership team who had the foresight to invest in a certified site and prepare this community for economic growth.

The director said he looks forward working with all the government and business leaders to grow the economy in Giles County.
