An Illinois man drowned Saturday morning while fishing with a family member on Abernathy Lake in Giles County.

The Giles County Sheriff's Department reported the accidental drowning  took the life of Darrell Lamonte Houston, 48, at around 11 a.m. Saturday.

The body was recovered by divers a short time later.

Houston reportedly went under water, but did not come back up after the boat he was in capsized.

The other occupant in the boat was Michael Houston of Pulaski.

According to Sheriff Kyle Helton, Michael Houston was able to safely swim to shore and call for help.

Reports show the victim was visiting family in Pulaski when the accident occurred.

Also responding to the scene was Pulaski Police Department, TWRA, Giles EMS and the Giles County Rescue Squad.
