Pulaski Vice Mayor Pat Miles and Commissioner Erin Curry were elected vice chairman and chairman during the Giles County Airport Advisory Committee meeting.

The Airport Advisory committee includes representatives from the Giles County Commission and the City of Pulaski and is separate from the County's former Airport Committee.

The city has handled much of the administrative work and some county representatives have criticized the amount of information received from the city.

Giles County Commissioner Stoney Jackson told the committee that information must include the county.

Randy Jones, manager of the airport,  is the only employee.

According  to reports some of Jones' salary comes from commission on the sale of products, which surprised Commissioner David Wamble.

City Administrator  Terry Harrison said since Jones was named airport manager, the  airport business and revenues have grown and his salary has not always been so high.

A recent improvement at Abernathy Field was construction of a 10 foot high chair link fence to keep deer off the runway to prevent damage to planes and passengers.

Plans at the airport include the construction of another roof and other various improvements on a blue colored hangar to be paid with grant funds.
