As hundreds gathered to celebrate Easter Sunday at Columbia’s Fairview Park, at least one gunshot shot rang out from the green space as the celebration was beginning to come to a close.

A suspect has yet to be named by the Columbia Police Department.

Thomas Herbert Martin, 31, suffered a gunshot wound to his right leg and was transported by helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, according to a report from the department.

A former Nissan employee and a resident of Columbia, Martin was released from the hospital’s care by noon on Monday. Media sources indicated the suspect is still at large.
