The Giles County Fire and Rescue is always ready for any type of emergency.
Case in point, GCF&R members were in a rural spot in the county just after 7:30 this morning coming to the aid of a cow that found itself stuck in a ditch. The crew worked well into the morning to bring the bovine out to safety.
Today is the second morning in a row that GCF&R was called to the same spot at 324 Powell Chapel Road to rescue one of Giles County's rural residents, Chief Corey Medley said.
It's all in a day's work though when you are a part of agency that is ready for any emergency like the Giles County Fire and Rescue.
Anyone interested in becoming a part of GCF&R should attend a meeting at 5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Pulaski Station, when the dates and times of an upcoming firefighting class will be set.
The Pulaski Station is located at 120 Jimmy Suggs Drive.
For questions, see GCF&R Captain Wendel Dawson.
