The Giles County Commission recommended  $254,655.83 budget for the Election Commission beginning July 1.

According to Administrator of Elections Kathy Bassham, the budget is lower than last year and varies annually based on the number of elections.

Approximately  $10,000 for machines and $2,500 for legal notices have been allocated for the election during 2019-2020 fiscal year.

Another $33,184 is budgeted for deputy and $31,888 for clerical personnel salaries.

Bassham's salary of $70,174 is set by the state of Tennessee which reimburses the county $18,000.

Zena Dickey and Anne B. Russell also work in the election commission office.

Reports shows approximately $6,000 for travel is allocated for machine technicians, election commissioners and staff plus $11,000 for voting machines and copier maintenance.

Election commissioners also approved 110 voter registrations.
