Giles County gas prices jumped eight cents on the week as summerlike demand pushes pump prices higher across the county as well as the state.

Drivers in Giles and surround counties are paying an average price of $2.60 per gallon for regular unleaded. Monday's state average is eight cents more than a week ago, 27 cents more than this time last month, but only one cent higher than this time last year.

According to AAA spokesman, drivers in the county are seeing prices increase as gasoline stocks decreased substantially.

The national gas  price average  is $2.83 which is nine cents more expensive than last week and 30 cents more than last month, but only is only one cent more expensive than last year.
