For her Gold Award Project, local Girl Scout Mary Margaret Brindley plans to "help The Help Center." She will paint a room in the Giles County Help Center that will be used for dented or out-of-date but still edible canned goods, according to U-S-D-A guidelines; she also plans to replace shelving, offer nutritious meal plans, create a new facebook page and a brochure to bring awareness to the services that are offered at the Giles County Help Center.

To help fund her project, Brindley, with Girl Scout Troop No. 2419, has partnered with local, rib-cooking celebrity Babe London. She is pre-selling pork ribs that will be cooked by London.

Cost is $30 per slab. Pick-up will be Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until noon, or until she is sold out, at Brindley Construction at the intersection of 8th and College streets.
