Giles County Commission  Law Enforcement Ad-Hoc Subcommittee outlined a study and recommendations of the Giles County Jail operations during a recent meeting.

Bob Bass, detention facilities manager and Community Corrections program coordinator and William Wall, deputy director of the Tennessee Correction Institute (TCI) were in Pulaski for a subcommittee meeting.

The TCI regulates all county jails in Tennessee.

Probation and Parole at the jail will also be examined, which has meanings in Giles County.

In separate parts of the study the jails age and need for more space will be analyzed, though both men said trying to build a larger jail was not the only solution.

Subcommittee members will make observations and combine data by the jail staff  and later will be compiled in a TCI report.

County Commissioner Rodney Journey chairs the subcommittee which includes county commissioners Rose Brown, David Wamble and Gayle Jones.

Other members of the Law Enforcement committee that may assist in the study are Tim Risner, Bill Cary and Terry Harwell.

Giles County Sheriff Kyle Helton, Chief Deputy Brandon Beard, Captain Joseph Purvis and jail Lieutenant Matt Sandrell are also working on the study.
