Raising the amount of supplemental pay received by professional fire fighters and police officers advanced in the Tennessee Senate last week.

The bill raises the annual supplement for the successful completion of at least 40 hours of in-service training from $600 to $800.

The bill is part of Governor  Bill Lee’s legislative package and is funded in the proposed budget that was submitted to the General Assembly.

According to State Senator Shane Reeves, our police and firefighters put themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe and in-service training is essential to help them perform in very difficult situations.
