Three candidates from District 6 have applied to finish the term of the late County Commissioner Danny Ray Cobb .

Dennis E. Haskins, Larry Worsham and Joseph Sutton submitted their names for nomination during  Monday's Giles County Commission meeting.

According to County Executive Melissa Greene, this does not prohibit a person residing in District 6 from requesting that his or her name be placed in nomination or that a commissioner may nominate a person in the courtroom.

Cobb was re-elected to another four year term in August 2018 and sworn into office the next month. His successor will serve until another election is held.

County Commissioner Shelly Goolsby has been nominated to replace Cobb on the Adult Oriented Entertainment Board and commissioner Rose Brown to take his place on the Agricultural Extension Committee.
