With rains over the weekend and from February floods the Giles County Highway Department have worked extra hours to clear debris from the county roads.

Another 2 inches of rain fell Saturday evening according to the National Weather Service in Nashville.

County Road Superintendant of Roads Barry Hyatt reported to the Giles County Commission Highway Committee that flooding damaged roads from water that was slowly receding in days that followed the February storm.

Emphasis has been on clearing more traveled county roads, Hyatt added, as cleanup works continues.

Hyatt also reported that he was to meet with representatives from the Soil Conservation District and other agencies about documenting damages in hopes of learning how much money the county may recover.
