Art and Story in Tennessee Quilts is the Tennessee State Museum’s first new exhibition since its grand opening in February and runs through July 7.

With quilts selected from the museum’s vast collection, the show highlights Tennessee’s quilt artistry and the stories embedded in those quilts, across more than two centuries and all three grand divisions of the state.

According to a senior curator of fashion and textiles at the museum, during a visit quilters from Giles County and surrounding areas would see quilts that hold a wealth of stories .

Candace Adelson, of the Tennessee State Museum said individually crafted quilts are more than just a traditional way to brighten beds and decorate homes. They can also be important outlets for artistic expression.
