A man was arrested Monday for making terroristic threats against the staff of District Attorney Brent Cooper.

Timothy McGill has been charged with Disorderly Conduct, Attempted Terrorism, Resisting Arrest, and Assault on an Officer.

Staff members of Cooper's office in Columbia called 911 due to McGill being out of control in their lobby. He threatened the staff and said he was going to blow up the building.

The responding officers were able to quickly get McGill outside, where he continued to be extremely irate and eventually became violent, striking one officer in the face.

At that time, a taser was deployed and McGill was taken into custody.

Cooper said he wants to personally extend his sincere appreciation to these brave officers that quickly responded to a potentially dangerous situation. I am glad to know that, if my staff is in harm's way, help will be there immediately.

22nd Judicial District Attorney Cooper  also serves Giles, Lawrence and Wayne counties.
