A recent lawsuit has been decided against the Town of Lynnville.

Ricky Jo Taylor sued the town after a ticket was written against his business by local police.

The lawsuit was decided in Taylor's favor, but Circuit Judge David Allen decided the violation was not willful and did not assess attorneys' fees.

Later, the Tennessee Court of Appeals then ordered Allen to assess attorneys' fees and cost.

The town will pay $51,681.07 in fees and court cost.

An order shows Attorney David Hudson asked for $10,045 in fees, Judge Allen only allowed $3,255.

Also awarded were $43,475 in fees for the trial and appeal to attorney Robert Dalton; $3500 to attorney Lee Brooks; $675 to attorney John Cordwell and another $776.07 in court costs.

According to Lynnville Mayor Bruce Vandiver,  the town will look at options in deciding how to pay the money.

One option was to take money out of the water district, which according to the clerk there is approximately $150,000.
