Several performances of "1776, the Musical" will be onstage STAAR Theatre at Antoinette Hall next month, beginning July 7th. It's described as a funny, insightful and compelling musical drama about the summer the Declaration of Independence was written.

Tammy Pierchoski, executive director of the non-profit STAAR Theatre, said the play puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the men behind the national icons. Pierchoski and her husband, Stan, are directing the production, which features a sizable cast of 27 performers from Giles and surrounding counties. The all-volunteer effort includes MaryAnn Trimble as choreographer and Holly Aldridge as vocal director.

“1776, the Musical” was staged in Pulaski more than a decade ago in the Circuit Court Room at the Giles County Courthouse. Pierchoski said some of those veteran performers have returned for the current production. Check out WKSR's Community Calendar every weekday at 11:20 in the mornings and 3:40 in the afternoons for times and dates.

All seating is reserved, and tickets range from $10 to $20 and are on sale at Pierchoski Law Firm and Estate Law, located next door to STAAR Theatre, or online at www.antoinettehall.com.
