A full alarm was called Wednesday for a fire reported at 1009 Mill Street just before noon, said Pulaski Fire Chief Don Collins.

Pulaski firefighters discovered a mattress on fire when they arrived at the home of Jeremy Farr, and the flames were distinguished quickly, Collins said.

The fire was contained to the bedroom, and Collins estimates $25,000 in damage, including smoke damage. The door to the bedroom was closed, which kept the fire from spreading throughout the house.

Collins said the home did have a working smoke detector.

Also responding were Public Safety Officers, a Pulaski Electric System crew and the Giles County EMS.
