There has been several burglaries on the south side of Giles County recently, and Sheriff Kyle Helton wants everyone to be on the lookout for anything that seems to be of a suspicious nature.

Christmas is usually the time when we see a rise in burglaries. We want to remind everyone to be cautious of having gifts delivered to your doorstep when you are not at home to receive them.

Don’t leave gifts in an open area for strangers to easily see, and to make sure to keep your home and vehicles locked up. You’re urged to be cautious of traveling door-to-door salesman who want to enter your home. If someone comes to your door, and they refuse to leave, call 9-1-1 immediately.

The Giles County Sheriff's Department receives phone calls from concerned citizens on a daily basis regarding phone scams. We are reminding citizens not to provide personal or financial information to anyone over the telephone. If you don't know the number, don't take the call.
