One person was killed Wednesday in a two- vehicle collision on Trotwood Avenue between Columbia and Mt. Pleasant.

The head-on collision of a pickup truck and a sedan occurred Wednesday afternoon just west of an intersection with Old Zion Road near Polk Memorial Gardens.

The name of the victim has not been released.

Columbia Fire and Rescue Chief Ty Cobb confirmed the fatality and said at least one other individual was extricated from a vehicle.

At the scene, officers with the Columbia Police Department reported serious injuries.

The Mt. Pleasant Fire Department also responded to the scene of the accident to assist with the effort.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated.
