A woman was killed and two others were injured after a tornado hit Christiana in Rutherford County as severe storms rolled across Middle Tennessee early this (Tuesday) morning.

According to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, the woman was killed in the collapsed home on Midland Road and the two others were injured when a mobile home rolled onto its side on Rock Springs Midland Road. The extent of the victim's injuries was not immediately known.

In neighboring Lawrence County, strong winds caused damage at the Gary Lamm sports complex near Loretto High School. Winds took down metal poles, a cinder block wall and the press box was torn from its base and tossed by the wind.

At this time it is unclear if the damage in Loretto was from a tornado or straight line winds.

There were no reports of property damage in Giles County due to the storms that moved through.
