A Limestone County Jail inmate faces additional charges after jail staff found methamphetamine hidden inside a body cavity Monday, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.

Christy Evans, 36, of Athens, was charged with promoting prison contraband and possession of a controlled substance, the office said in a release. She is being held in the jail, and the bail on her new charges is $7,500, according to the release.

Athens police arrested Evans on Sunday on traffic warrants, and the jail staff noticed Monday that she continued to show signs of being under the influence of narcotics. After searching Evans, a corrections officer located a plastic bag inside a body cavity that contained methamphetamine and two unidentified pills.
