Year after year, pumpkins have made perfect fall decorations and delectable treats for many Tennesseans. This year, however, one farmer is using his pumpkins for a greater cause.

Hyde Farms in Loudon County announced they will be donating all pumpkin sales through the month of October to hurricane victims in North Carolina.

“One day before church I saw on the news that there are still so many families in the Carolinas who are struggling,” Hyde Farms owner Mitchell Hyde said. “I’m just a local farmer trying to offer some hope to those who need it right now.”

So far, Hyde has raised more than $3,000 and will be matching pumpkin sales up to $10,000. “I’ve been blessed with this farm, and I felt compelled to help in any way that I can,” Hyde said.

Hyde Farms and many other pumpkin farmers across the state will continue sales through the month of October.
