The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s office is raising awareness of key fire safety messages for national fire prevention week which is October 7th through the 13th.  

According to a press release, this year’s theme is “Look Listen Learn Fire Can Happen Anywhere.” The promotion is aimed at educating consumers on three basic but important steps needed to reduce the likelihood of fire, and teach consumers what to do if a fire should occur.  

Look - fire can happen anywhere in a home.  Look around your home for places fire can start.  Listen - know the sound of your smoke alarm and make sure everyone in the home understands what to do if it sounds.  Learn - create an escape plan with members of your household and learn two ways out of every room.  For additional tips go to tn dot gov slash fire.
