The field has been narrowed down to three finalist to replace retiring Circuit Court Judge Robert L. Jones in the 22nd Judicial District.

Assistant District Attorney for the 22nd District Caleb Bayless, Assistant District Attorney for the 17th District Lee Brooks and Lawrenceburg attorney Christopher Sockwell were chosen from a list of 10 finalists.
All were interviewed Tuesday by the state Trial Court Vacancy Commission at Columbia Central High School.

Jones, 74, wrote a letter to Gov. Bill Haslam last month, saying he would retire Oct. 31. The 22nd Judicial District includes Giles, Lawrence, Maury and Wayne counties.

Haslam will interview the three finalists and choose the replacement. The appointee will face election for the first time in November 2020.
