The state of Tennessee guarantees every disabled child the right to a free public education, but a lot of people aren't aware of that, says Yvonne Brown, director of Federal Programs and Special Education for the Giles County School System.

Brown believes there are families with disabled children in Giles County who don't know how to receive assistance in getting the children in school. That child needs your help, she added.

If there is a disabled child in your neighborhood who isn't in school, Brown encourages you to call her at 363-4558 or give the number to the parents. Brown said the parents simply may not know how to contact her.
