A toddler has died after suffering injuries at the hands of a Columbia man who was babysitting the toddler, police say.

Timothy Lee Brooks Jr, 26, was wanted for the aggravated child neglect of the 2-year-old who was found unresponsive. That child has since died and Columbia Police say they are upgrading his charge to felony murder.

The boy was found Tuesday and transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in critical condition. Columbia Police confirmed Thursday that the child died.
Brooks was located Thursday and taken into custody.

The case remains under investigation.
