Martin Methodist College placed 37 out of 111 in the 2019 U.S. News and World Report Best Regional Colleges South Rankings based on official information released Monday from U.S. News.

The Best Colleges rankings evaluates schools on hundreds of data points using up to 16 measures of academic quality. This year, U.S. News updated the Best Colleges methodology to add emphasis on student outcomes, which hold the most weight at 35 percent. U.S. News is also measuring how well schools support low-income students through graduation.

Placed in the Regional Colleges South category, out of four different categories varying in institution size and location, MMC stood out with a 15:1 student to faculty ratio. Based in a rural town with many low-income students applying and attending, MMC holds its small class sizes to the highest value, believing that a personal education is one that will achieve grounded success for all students through direct support from faculty and staff.

“To be recognized as a “Best College” is a great honor for Martin Methodist College,” said MMC President Mark La Branche. “The availability of higher education of this quality in our region is reason for celebration. Our students and alumni can take great pride in their alma mater.”
