Pulaski native Kristen Pratt Jones is the new Cannon County Extension agent with responsibilities for Family and Consumer Sciences programs.

Jones is a graduate of Martin Methodist College with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services and of University of Tennessee, Martin with a Master of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences.

Prior to going to Cannon County, Jones was a Tennessee Nutrition and Consumer Education Program assistant with UT TSU Extension in Giles County for two years. She implemented programs such as Cooking Matters, Eat Smart During Pregnancy and Eat Smart: Get Your Family to the Table and Tasty Days.

While interviewing her references, Bruce Steelman, county director with the UT Cannon County Extension Service, said he was told Jones would be a tremendous asset to the County.

UT Extension programs address everyday problems that families face and provide help through research-based education. Building individual and family life skills to make positive impacts in the community is the mission of Tennessee Extension Family and Consumer Sciences programs.

Jones said she is excited to work with Cannon County families and is committed to Cannon County with programs emphasizing ways to make wise decisions related to their health, nutrition, family, home youth development and lifestyle decisions.
