Some members of the Amish community have reported being scammed by thieves posing as fundraisers, according to WLX.com.

Authorities with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department say a member of Ethridge Fire Department had learned several Amish families had given money to two men posing as members of the department who were soliciting funds. However, the department is not doing any fundraising at this time.

The victims said the young men were driving a small Kia SUV with the words Vol Fire on the rear bumper.

The incidents occurred on Convent Road, Jap Lane and South Brace Road.

Ethridge Fire Department does wish to press charges for criminal impersonation.

The case is under investigation.
