Purchasing a new fire truck/pumper for the Pulaski Fire Department has been a priority for the Board of Mayor and Aldermen and City Administrator Terry Harrison said at Tuesday's meeting three bids have been received.

However, he recommended the board reject the bids and re-advertise for bids. The reason, he explained, is none of them met the city's bid specs.

The board had asked Harrison and Pulaski Fire Chief Don Collins to come up with what kind of truck was needed and to write the specs.

The board agreed to change some of the language in the specs and to re-let bids.

Another vehicle needed is a pickup truck for the Water Department. Harrison told the board there is money in the budget and recommended bids to be let, which the board approved.

A building permit obtained by Brindley Construction at Magneti Marelli was not used and the Pulaski company had asked the city to refund the money spent. The board approved the refund.

The board has approved parade permits for Dr. Tesa Reeves for a free dental day in November and for Pulaski electric System for its customer appreciation in October.

Pulaski Police Chief John Dickey introduced two new employees in his department to the board Tuesday. Aaron Pinkleton is a new police officer, and John Wade is the property maintenance coordinator dealing with property issues.
